The Etruscans

The Etruscans
durata:
periodo:

We know that the fascinating and somewhat mysterious Etruscan people settled in the territory known as Tuscany between the 8th and 7th centuries B. C. The Etruscans were evolved traders and merchants whose lifestyle, habits and customs were quite advanced. Women, for example, took an active part in the political and social life of their communities and had a well-respected role in the family. Archeological remains testifying their material and spiritual culture have been found in many of the territories where they established themselves over the centuries: various areas of central Italy like Tuscany, Umbria and Latium, and south in Campania, the region of Naples. It is interesting to note that the Etruscans settled in areas of great natural beauty which are definitely worth visiting for the modern traveler. The itinerary we offer combines the interest of an excursion through splendid natural surroundings and amazing archeological sites: places that are sure to enchant you, leaving an unforgettable impression of this ancient population whose intelligence and dynamism were second to none. Your trip starts in Florence, a city founded by the Etruscans, and continues south to the charming countryside between Siena and Grosseto, to visit the archeological sites at Roselle, one of the most representative settlements of this ancient civilization. You will then proceed towards the lovely coast of the Tyrrhenian sea, reaching Populonia, Vetulonia, Baratti, splendid sites where you can even go snorkeling to discover what the sea has preserved of the Etruscan culture. You will then go south along the coast to visit the impressive tombs of Tarquinia with their hauntingly beautiful artwork before reaching Rome, the eternal city, a destination certainly not to be missed.
